Pulau Weh has so much to offer above the water too. This lush tropical island is perfect for the naturalists who can enjoy jungle trekking through virgin rainforest or swimming at the refreshing waterfall. There is even a volcano to venture up! Touring the island can also include taking a stroll through the old town of Sabang, wandering along isolated white sandy beaches, checking out the World War 2 Japanese bunkers, taking a dip in the hot springs and visiting Kilometre Zero (the most western point of Indonesia that usually comes with a beautiful sunset). The stunning Rubiah Island, which lies just across the channel from Iboih, is also really worth a visit. But if all this sounds like too much, you can just simply chillax in the hammock of your seaside bungalow…
Every Friday water activities are suspended across the whole of Pulau Weh until 2pm. This is a cultural tradition in order to give thanks and respect to the ocean for providing our communities with a source for livelihood.
